Contribution

Many of the customers we work with are involved in some way or another in the food industry. It is because we are involved that area that having a food component to our contributing would make sense. We have chosen to help feed orphans at an orphanage in Columbia.

The story of this non-profit is truly inspiring, and if you ever get the chance to meet Jorge or his family, you will leave a changed person. Jorge went from personally growing up as a shoeless orphan in Medellin, Columbia, to now running a successful Geo-technical Engineering company here in BC. Jorge runs the orphanage in his home town in Columbia with his family by traveling back and forth frequently. This is their act of giving back and leaving the world better than they found it. In addition to many programs for the community, everyday this orphanage feeds over 150 kids so that they have the energy they need to grow and develop. Additionally this orphanage is also now seeing students graduate and head off to post-secondary education!

Another key component for our company is education. Our Red Seal Refrigeration Technicians have to go through an extensive apprenticeship. They work daily on large and complex equipment, and need to frequently problem solve to identify issues that are not quickly discernible. As education is so important to our company and this industry, we wanted to support an organization that also is involved in education. After the 1994 genocide left Rwanda in ruins, rebuilding the school system became a key priority. The Wellspring Foundation responded and is now helping provide quality education for over 175,000 children in across Rwanda, empowering children who can be the leaders of the future. They focus on many areas from improving training for teachers to getting communities involved in the education process.
